What do CAD and PLM services include?
They range from design process analysis, CAD standards and automation to PDM and PLM concepts, integration and migration, and increasingly AI applications in CAD and on engineering knowledge. Good providers start with the process and the data, not with a tool.
What is the difference between CAD automation and AI for CAD?
CAD automation executes fixed rules, for example deriving a drawing or exporting a BOM the same way every time. AI for CAD handles tasks that need interpretation, such as choosing views, explaining a failed check or preparing an edit in the model, and proposes results for an engineer to confirm.
How are engineering services billed: fixed price or day rate?
Both are common. Clearly scoped automation and AI projects suit fixed-price packages; consulting, PLM work, migrations and open-ended tasks are usually billed at day rates per engineer.
